Tomato Fried Eggs with Pork Chop was on the specials board today at Hong Kong Taste, the wonderful cha chaan teng (tea restaurant) at 47-21 90th St, corner of Corona Ave in Elmhurst, Queens. The pork chop was good, the tomato/eggs even better. I kicked up the rice with a little of their amazing housemade curry and garlic sauces and rounded out the meal with their delicious Hong Kong style milk tea. As I always say about H.K.Taste: more to come!

  1. Sounds delicious! And pretty easy to make. Could be breakfast, lunch of supper, too. Thanks, Rich, for all your expert scouting and reporting of new and exciting foods.

    • Thank you, Pauline! Yes, this dish is classic Chinese home cooking. But before you attempt to make it, check the interwebs for recipes regarding both technique and ingredients. You’ll find a few additional elements (like garlic, rice wine, ketchup and others) that vary from one recipe to the next and you might be surprised to learn that many of them call for sugar!

      Happy cooking!
