The idea was to turn them on to vegetables. I think they might have liked the poem better than the vegetable. &lt;sigh&gt;<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Here we have a vegetable<br \/>\nWhose major claim to fame<br \/>\nIs the way it looks \u2014<br \/>\nAnd it looks as funny as its name!<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019d think it came from outer space,<br \/>\nPale green and somewhat knobby<br \/>\nWith stems that stick out from its sides.<br \/>\nThey call the thing kohlrabi!<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes you find a purple one,<br \/>\nBut that is just its skin.<br \/>\nAnd it tastes a bit like broccoli<br \/>\nWith radishes mixed in.<\/p>\n<p>You can cook them in all sorts of ways<br \/>\nOr you can eat \u2019em raw.<br \/>\nI even saw a recipe<br \/>\nFor kohlrabi coleslaw!<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re really pretty tasty&#8230;<br \/>\nGuess that comes as a surprise!<br \/>\n(Hey, I think I\u2019m getting hungry now<br \/>\nJust thinking \u2019bout these guys!)<\/p>\n<p>So now that you\u2019ve been introduced,<br \/>\nIt\u2019s your turn to exclaim<br \/>\nThat you like this crazy veggie<br \/>\nWith an even stranger name.<\/p>\n<p>Yell out, \u201cHooray for vegetables!\u201d<br \/>\nAnd cheer about kohlrabi!<br \/>\nAnd shout it from the rooftops<br \/>\nFrom Zaire to Abu Dhabi!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Part of a series I did for kids.
