They don\u2019t disappoint and I wish them all well.<\/p>\n<p>Fu Yuan offers steamed rice noodle rolls (<em>cheung fun,<\/em> \u8178\u7c89) which appear to be enjoying tremendous popularity in NYC\u2019s Chinatowns of late, as well as congee, some soups and a few other \u201cside orders\u201d. In addition to their traditional rice noodle rolls, they had a couple with the word \u201ccrispy\u201d prepended which, of course, I opted for.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/IMG_4760-edited-1440.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/IMG_4760-edited-1440.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1440\" height=\"1080\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14968\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/IMG_4760-edited-1440.jpg 1440w, https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/IMG_4760-edited-1440-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/IMG_4760-edited-1440-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/IMG_4760-edited-1440-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/IMG_4760-edited-1440-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1440px) 100vw, 1440px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThis one is their Crispy Roast Pork Rice Noodle Roll; the soft rice noodle is wrapped around crispy rice which is wrapped round the filling (shrimp is available as well as roast pork). Since I\u2019m always a sucker for crispy, it totally worked for me.<\/p>\n<p>But the real intrigue is the menu mystery that is \u201cStone Mill Noodle Roll\u201d. I\u2019ve returned more than once and each time I inquire, I\u2019m told they don\u2019t have it. Do they <em>ever <\/em>have it? <em>Did <\/em>they ever have it? That\u2019s the enigma and I don\u2019t have the Cantonese language skills to get to the bottom of it.<\/p>\n<p>So, have any of you Chinatown roamers been luckier than I in solving this mystery?<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<em>And a reminder: New York City boasts at least six Chinatowns and perhaps a few more depending upon your definition of what constitutes a Chinatown; just pick one and go!
