There was a subtle sweetness to these Roast Pork Pastries, a perfect combination of thin slices of juicy char siu, flaky dough, and black and white sesame seeds. If you buy one to take home, definitely warm it up for maximum enjoyment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/IMG_2620-use-edited-1440.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/IMG_2620-use-edited-1440.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1440\" height=\"1080\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19042\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/IMG_2620-use-edited-1440.jpg 1440w, https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/IMG_2620-use-edited-1440-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/IMG_2620-use-edited-1440-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/IMG_2620-use-edited-1440-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/IMG_2620-use-edited-1440-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1440px) 100vw, 1440px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe Meat Floss Cake was indeed cakey per its name: pillowy soft, savory and salty but also with a slight overtone of sweetness. Each cake was coated with meat floss and comprised two halves married by a thin layer of creamy custard (see last photo).<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re unfamiliar with meat floss, meat (pork is common) is cooked in a sweetened, spiced mixture until it\u2019s soft enough to be shredded and fried resulting in a final texture that\u2019s fluffy and looks a bit like wool. It\u2019s remarkably versatile and commonly used as a topping for rice or congee, as an ingredient for filling buns and pastries, or for just plain snackin\u2019.
