{"id":9023,"date":"2019-07-08T17:47:55","date_gmt":"2019-07-08T21:47:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/?p=9023"},"modified":"2019-07-08T17:47:55","modified_gmt":"2019-07-08T21:47:55","slug":"xinjiang-house","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/?p=9023","title":{"rendered":"XinJiang House"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Instagram Post 7\/8\/2019<\/h4>\n<p>As I sift my way through the stalls and their respective menus at Elmhurst\u2019s HK Food Court, 82-02 45th Ave, some gems have begun to emerge; XinJiang House, number 17, is assuredly one of them. They offer the Halal cuisine of Xinjiang, the Uyghur Autonomous Region in northwest China near Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Because of the political conflict there, the public at large is becoming more aware of the plight of the Uyghurs who are in essence being persecuted for aspiring to pursue their lives and their culture in a homeland of their own, an \u201cEastern Turkestan\u201d. Succulent lamb riblets (on the bone where the meat is sweetest) accompanied by chunks of potato and intensified with green and red chilies plus palpable nubs of ginger and garlic. Gilding the lily, this all goes over a bed of wide, thick, chewy, hand pulled noodles to soak up the juices \u2013 not visible in this photo, but you\u2019ll dream about them later.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/QPPI8389.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/QPPI8389.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1440\" height=\"1440\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9021\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/QPPI8389.jpg 1440w, https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/QPPI8389-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/QPPI8389-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/QPPI8389-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ethnojunkie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/QPPI8389-1024x1024.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1440px) 100vw, 1440px\" \/><\/a>I was curious about the dish that\u2019s probably the least accessible on their menu, Spicy Lamb Feet. There\u2019s precious little meat on these, but that\u2019s to be expected; you\u2019ll be consuming skin for the most part, but the heady broth (too trivial a word) that\u2019s the consummation of this preparation is just remarkable.
